Mark your calendars! Barista Behind the Bar is hosting a one-day event on Monday, March 16, from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Black Rabbit Service Co. in Portland, Oregon.

The day will be filled with classes and presentations by industry professionals. Featured presenters include Dan Lynn, a Portland-based activist and organizer whose talk, “Creating Brave Spaces,” will “lay a foundation of awareness, analysis, action, and accountability around our impact on trans disabled fat and bipoc people in public/retail spaces,” and Umeko Motoyoshi, founder of Umeshiso, who will present their talk, “Lean In: Social Media and The Small Business on Your Terms,” exploring “practical knowledge about brand-building and career development, centered around the thesis that humanness in work is crucial to holistic functioning.”

The event is open to anyone in the industry, with 30 spots open that can be secured by emailing hello@baristabehindthebar.com. The event space is ADA accessible, has gender neutral bathrooms, and various seating options will be provided. Service animals are welcome, and antiviral masks and hand sanitizer will be available.
