Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Oden Ventures LLC dba Fresh Cup (“Fresh Cup,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit freshcup.com, subscribe to our newsletters, download our resources, or take part in our programs (the “Services”).

Fresh Cup is a business-to-business coffee-industry media company. Most of the people in our audience interact with us in a professional capacity, and the information we collect reflects that.

Our principles

A few commitments guide everything below:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we genuinely need it to do something you’ve asked for.
  • We don’t share your personal information with a sponsor or partner unless you’ve explicitly opted into that sponsor’s resource or program; and when you do, we’re clear about what that means.
  • We tell you plainly what we collect, why, and how to opt out.

Information we collect

Information you give us directly. Depending on how you interact with us, this can include:

  • Your name and email address.
  • Professional details you provide when you download a gated resource or join a program, such as your company name, role, business type and stage, location, and similar business information.
  • A shipping address and business details if you take part in a program that mails you something (for example, Welcome Box or Coffee Shop Handbook).
  • Anything you send us through a contact or feedback form.

Information we collect automatically. Like most websites, we collect technical and usage information through cookies and similar technologies; for example, your browser type, language, referring site, IP address, the pages you view, and the dates and times of your visits. We use tools such as Google Tag Manager and the Meta (Facebook) pixel for analytics and advertising.

Information about how you engage with us. We keep a record of how you interact with our content; for example, which articles you read, which links you click in our newsletters, and which resources you download.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Understand editorial performance and inform editorial decisions.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve our products and Services.
  • Send you newsletters and updates you’ve signed up for.
  • Deliver the programs and resources you request.
  • Qualify, score, and route leads within our sponsor and matchmaking programs.
  • Understand audience trends and report on them, generally in aggregate.
  • Protect the Services, enforce our terms, and comply with the law.

How we share information

We never sell your information, email lists, or other data about you without your express permission. We do share information with select partners, only when you’ve given permission to do so, in the following specific ways:

With sponsors and partners, when you opt in. Several of our programs are sponsored. When you download a sponsor’s gated resource or join a sponsored program, you are opting in to be contacted by that sponsor, and we share with them the contact and professional information you provided along with a summary of your relevant interests and engagement with Fresh Cup so they can follow up appropriately. We share this only with the sponsor connected to the resource or program you engaged with—never with unrelated sponsors. Once a sponsor receives your information, their own privacy policy governs their use of it.

With service providers. We share information with vendors who process it on our behalf; for example, website hosting, email/newsletter delivery, analytics, customer-relationship and lead-management tools, fulfillment/shipping partners, and AI processing providers. These vendors may only use the information to provide services to us. Our AI processing provider does not use your information to train its models or retain your information.

With advertising partners. Ads on our site may be served by partners that set their own cookies for tracking ad impressions and clicks; their use of those cookies is governed by their own policies.

For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information to respond to a subpoena, court order, or government request, or where we believe in good faith it’s necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fresh Cup, our users, or the public.

In a business transfer. If Fresh Cup is acquired or substantially all of its assets are transferred, user information may be among the transferred assets, subject to this policy.

Note: some of the laws described below treat sharing of this kind as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. You can opt out—see “Your choices and rights.”

Your Fresh Cup Reader Profile

When you interact with Fresh Cup, whether by subscribing to our newsletter, filling out a form, registering for a program like RoasterLink or the Welcome Box, downloading a resource, or engaging with our content, the information you provide and the engagement signals we observe may be combined into a unified Fresh Cup Reader Profile associated with your email address.

What your Reader Profile may include:

  • Contact and business information you provide on any Fresh Cup form (name, email, phone, business name, role, business stage, location)
  • Professional interests and topics you tell us you’re working on or interested in
  • Engagement activity such as which newsletters you open, which content categories you engage with, and which resources you access
  • Program-specific information you provide when you join Fresh Cup programs such as RoasterLink, the Welcome Box, or gated content offers

How we use your Reader Profile:

  • To personalize the content and resources we send you
  • To improve our editorial and programming decisions based on aggregate audience trends
  • To assess how relevant and ready you may be for a particular industry partner’s products or services (this process is called “lead scoring”)
  • To share relevant engagement insights with our industry partners (sponsors) in connection with lead generation campaigns you have opted into

What we share with sponsors:

When you opt into a sponsor lead generation campaign (for example, by downloading a sponsor resource, filling out a lead gen form, or clicking a sponsor offer in our newsletter), we may share:

  • The contact and business information you submitted on the opt-in form
  • A summary of your relevant professional interests and content engagement related to that sponsor’s topic area
  • Category-level engagement signals (such as “interested in wholesale growth” or “engaged with equipment content”) that are relevant to the sponsor’s offering

We do not share:

  • Your full Reader Profile or raw form data from unrelated programs
  • Engagement data relating to a different sponsor’s campaign
  • Specific page URLs, click-by-click browsing history, or exact article titles

Automated analysis:

We use automated tools, including artificial intelligence, to analyze engagement information and produce assessments of how relevant a prospective buyer may be for a particular sponsor’s offering. These tools process your data on our behalf and do not retain your personal information or use it to train their models.

Your choices:

  • You may request to see what information is in your Reader Profile by contacting us
  • You may opt out of having your engagement data shared with sponsors by contacting us
  • You may unsubscribe from any Fresh Cup communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails
  • Unsubscribing removes you from future communications but does not automatically delete historical data; to request deletion, contact us

Your choices and rights

Opt out of “sale”/”sharing” and targeted advertising. You can ask us not to share your personal information with sponsors/partners and not to use it for targeted advertising.

Access, correction, and deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or receive a copy. US state privacy laws. If you are a resident of California, Texas, Virginia, Colorado, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have the rights described above, including the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising. We do not knowingly process sensitive personal information for these purposes.

EU/UK (GDPR). Where GDPR applies, our lawful bases are typically your consent (for marketing), and our legitimate interests in operating a B2B media business and qualifying leads, balanced against your rights.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you, remember your preferences, measure site usage, and support advertising. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though some features may not work properly without them.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes, after which we delete or de-identify it.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Services are intended for coffee-industry professionals and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 years old.

International visitors

We operate from the United States, and your information will be processed there and in the countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
