[F]ounded in Grand Rapids, Michigan, back in 2008, Madcap Coffee made its Detroit debut in the Shinola Hotel this past weekend.

Trevor Corlett and Ryan Knapp co-founded the business as a way to focus on the science of brewing and highlight Corlett’s experimental drink recipes. The Detroit shop features an automated Modbar system and full espresso service.

Madcap will be just one dining option at the hotel, joining the ranks of a highly curated culinary community all housed under the Shinola roof, including: cocktail lounge Evening Bar, Italian restaurant San Morello, beerhall The Brakeman, and takeout fried chicken shop Penny Red’s. The hotel is owned and operated in partnership with real estate firm Bedrock, and watch and leather goods manufacturer Shinola.
