UNIC, a 90-year-old manufacturer of espresso machines based in France, has been acquired by the world’s second-largest appliance manufacturer, Electrolux. The acquisition demonstrates yet another step into the commercial coffee brewing sector for Electrolux. In recent years Electrolux acquired Grindmaster-Cecilware and Italy-based SPM Drink System. Grindmaster-Cecilware has been distributing a portion of the UNIC product range in North and Latin America under the Grindmaster brand since 2018.

The addition of UNIC will provide Electrolux with a range of professional quality espresso machines, joining the company’s portfolio of drip brewers, grinders, and dispensers. Electrolux will also take the reins over UNIC’s 130 employees, manufacturing facility near Nice, France, and branch office in Seattle, Washington.
