On October 24 and 25, 2024, Miranda Caldwell of The Coffee MBA will host a workshop called “Connect the Dots: Business Principles for Specialty Coffee” at the Medici Roasting facility in Austin, Texas. Tickets are available now, but spots are limited. Early-bird pricing is offered through September 13, and several free spots are available for people facing financial hardship.
Sponsors include Eversys, Cropster, Oatly, and Medici. (Full disclosure: Fresh Cup is also a sponsor of the event.)
“Connect the Dots” aims to empower entrepreneurs with vital information needed to run any type of business within the specialty coffee industry. “Business fundamentals are essential for anyone in the specialty coffee industry,” said Caldwell in a press release. “This workshop will bridge the knowledge gap with targeted business insights that are critical for success.”
Why It Matters: The two-day event is multi-modal, with workshops, resource guides, digital templates, and interactive learning experiences “tailored to equip specialty coffee professionals with strategic insights and tools specifically designed for their industry,” the press release states.
Each day is broken up into modules covering essential business topics, like marketing, operations, finance, and research and development. Although business-focused, the event is open to any and all aspiring leaders in the industry, from shop managers to roasters to green coffee buyers.
The Full Extraction: Caldwell founded The Coffee MBA to help coffee folks build better businesses and feel less lonely in their entrepreneurial journeys. Along with offering education in practical business skills, “Connect the Dots” will also foster networking opportunities, so attendees can learn from one another and begin building a network of industry peers.
Anyone interested in attending the event but hindered by financial hardship can apply for one of four free tickets available, thanks to Cropster and Eversys. General admission tickets—which include coffee, light breakfast, lunch, and a happy hour on the first day—are available here at early-bird prices until September 13.
